    Support services for gender-based violence

    A statement from Women Supporting Women on domestic abuse and gender-based violence: For many women, ‘Stay Safe, Stay Home’ was meaningless as home is not a safe place, and although restrictions are beginning to ease a little, this does not mean that the issues many women are facing have become easier. For many women, domestic and family abuse, gender based violence and intimate partner violence is a severe and enduring reality that existed prior to the pandemic and still continues as we begin to ease.     Coco & Mango Storytelling Videos

    We are very pleased to announce that, in the spirit of our Coco & Mango Storytelling Group, our wonderful Women Supporting Women team are now making videos for wee ones! Here is the first, in which Hazel is joined by Coco and Mango to tell the story of Where the Wild Things Are! More videos will appear on our YouTube channel in the near future – stay tuned!

    Women Supporting Women Video & Campaign

    Women Supporting Women have just launched a new campaign through the Aviva Community Fund, looking to raise money for their crisis and trauma support. Watch the short video below to learn more about the service and the need for more robust and accessible support for women in the local area.     10 am – 12 noon Friday 6th March at Pilton Community Health Project Women Supporting Women warmly welcome all local women to our next monthly Drop-In! We will be having a workshop on reflexology from Maureen, focusing on our hands and learning about the healing and relaxing benefits of this practice. We will also have a wee visit from Sustrans, who support us in discussing issues of transport and travel in our local area, a chance to have a voice about what transport barriers we may be facing. We will have Anna from Granton Goes Greener teaching us to make these beautiful Motanka Dolls from recycled fabric. Symbols of good luck, fertility and protection.     For mums/carers and their wee ones aged 0-5 years. Tuesdays 1:30 – 3:30 from 18th February till 31st March.
