Physical Activity

Our physical activity team work with local partners and the community to encourage a more physically active North Edinburgh. This is achieved by identifying, creating and raising awareness of local opportunities and by addressing the wider issues impacting on Physical Activity such as improving local green spaces.

Our work has been informed by our award winning consultation process and is detailed in our Moving Forward document.

One project to come from Moving Forward is the Parklife project. We work with the local community, supporting them to deliver physical activity, events and physical improvements on West Pilton Park through a Friends of West Pilton (Parklife) Group. The aim is to improve the park and make it a more welcoming space for people to use and exercise in.

We support a growing number of volunteers to deliver our regular walking group twice a week. We have also developed 12 Hidden Gems walks  around the North Edinburgh area which highlight some of the many surprises that the area has to offer. See the latest booklet here

We encourage and support local people to develop, promote and lead their own activities including a local walk/jog group.

We work in partnership with other local organisations to provide a number of activities such as Ease into Exercise and seated exercise for older people.
